Hipster mad angels in the NYC night...

like hipster mad angels in the nyc...infused by the magic...I started to lip synch the notes I wanted the guitarist to play...a penguin in the window giving me the sherlock holmes eye...I told leo hopi she was a bit road tooth and it made him laugh...the breeze blew with an indian summer sigh as I taped and took beautiful pictures of strange women and for a moment I was back in the Jack Kerouac dream of hipster mad angels in the nyc night...

Cleaning Up

Dan and I spent part of the afternoon cleaning up the Greeley gorge.  Under a beautiful late summer sun we got into removing garbage that kids left over the summer...

Words Matter: Observations from Ralph Nader

"Ever wonder what’s happening to words once they fall into the hands of corporate and government propagandists? Too often reporters and editors don’t wonder enough. They ditto the words even when the result is deception or doubletalk."

This is the opening insight from Ralph Nader.  He provides an analysis at the euphemisms that the media accepts without critical inspection from the corporations.

"The raging debate and controversy over health insurance and the $2.5 trillion spent this year on health care involves consumers and “providers.” How touching to describe sellers or vendors, often gouging, denying benefits, manipulating fine print contracts, cheating Medicare and Medicaid in the tens of billions as “providers.”"

In my opinion it starts way back in the school system.  We are not taught be critical of society.  Education is more about social promotion and learning.  It led my conflicts so many years ago.  A scary thing is that a lot of those who are in power to make decisions are not there through merit as the myth but through social connections bought on by the right schools and family associations.  These individuals naturally want to advance their social advantage. It is up to the media to confront these areas of privilege but the media has been bought off long, long ago.

"“Privatization” and the “private sector” are widespread euphemisms that the press falls for daily. Moving government owned assets or functions into corporate hands, as with Blackwater, Halliburton, and the conglomerates now controlling public highways, prisons, and drinking water systems is “corporatization,” not the soft imagery of going “private” or into the “private sector.” It is the corporate sector!"

In this Mclite culture of easy sound bites and surface imagery who takes the time to achieve such insights...?..

Health Care....

Franken Talks Down Angry Mob

This video highlights the irrationality that Democrats face when talking about the health care reform.  Why people want to enrich the insurance companies and be behold toi some facelesss corporate bureaucrat is beyoind me.  If they stood up to the illegal invasion of Iraq and Afghanistan the money saved from those useless wars alone would pay for the single payer option.  Americans are brainwahsed.  They know very little of the outside world.  While they are bringing democracy to Iraq they barely have here it in the United States.  There are so few contested elections in this country and both parties have been bought off by big business,  Still even this feeble attempt at health care reform is better than nothing...

The flow of information...

The flow of information....I believe in it whole heartedly....we live in the digital age...things should be transparent which is a result of free flow of information...I wasn't able to bring my cameras in...it turns out I could have but once again I listened to the wrong people...so it goes.....that was my fault...so this video was taken by my freind Diane....she did a good job and she captures the spirit of the Micahel Franti in concert...he brings an amazing energy to his shows...I'm sensitive to it because I do yoga and that whole rastafarian vibe taps into that...his show at Terminal 5 in New York City on September 1 was no exception.. He displayed a wide range of musical ideas within the reggae framework..  His band was tight and they rocked a willing house.  I prefer to be more involved than being a passive onlooker.  It's one reason I like bringing in my camera gear.  Being cool and jumping around is a lot of fun and indeed I had a great time but for me I was on a higher spiritual plane when I was kicking it in Central Park.  When the flow of information is restricted it makes me feel inhabited.  It's the restriction of information and individual passiviity that I believe has given us two wars and the great Wall Street shakedown.  I am not saying this is any of Michael Franti's fault.  His music was all inclusive and he even mentioned not to forget the troops in Iraq and Afghanistan.   As you can see this from this video, the atmosphere was electric and the crowd fully involved.
