Reading an essay on David Hockney. It's talking about his use of the camera which the author claims created an explosion of perspectives and the utter subversion of the tyrannical hegemony of traditional one-point perspective...he quotes Hockney as saying, "wider perspectives are needed now." I like those thoughts. I would like to think that my photography captures some of this energy. I really am trying to enlarge the perspective of what is happening around me both in a literal sense as to the changing nature of light and landscape and in a spiritual sense although what that spirituality actually is I couldn't tell. I know it's not expressed by the suits on the train or the yelping monkeys on the fox network.
